Homemade iced matcha latte. Is there anything better? Today I want to share with you my recipe for this delicious and healthy drink.
Is matcha latte better than coffee
To be honest with you, I’m not that much of a matcha drinker myself. I don’t believe that it’s better than a cup of coffee in the morning, but I’m a strong advocate for an afternoon “pick me up” glass of cold and delicious homemade iced matcha latte.
Today I want to share with the way I prepare my matcha latte. It’s simple, and it doesn’t cost a fortune to make one.
How to prepare homemade iced matcha latte
Here is how you do it:
- Whisk 1.5 tsp matcha powder with 2 tbsp water until smooth using a bamboo whisk. Add sweetener and whisk until fully combined. I usually do 1 tsp of NuNaturals Vanilla Syrup or one pack of Splenda.
- Add ice to the glass and fill it with milk. I’m using either coconut or oat milk. Add matcha mixture to the glass.
- Whisk and enjoy.
Easy and delicious way to boost your health and make your afternoon a bit better.
Where to drink matcha in New York
Before moving to Miami in the mid of the pandemic, I’ve lived in New York for a couple of years and found three places where you can get a delicious iced matcha latte.
The first one, Ippodo Tea. It’s located at 125 E 39th St in Midtown and there I had the most authentic experience of drinking matcha latte. It serves varieties of traditional matcha tea alongside matcha latte. The drinks are prepared right in front of you using original Japanese bowls and bamboo whisks.
The second, Matchaful. It is located in Downtown. I remember stopping by there many times after walking around Soho. They do serve primarily matcha but elevated healthy versions of it with ashwagandha or mct oil. I’ve tried the Vanilla Zen drink which aims to calm you, but at the end I always came back to the regular matcha latte with oat milk.
The last, Blue Bottle Coffee. It’s a coffee shop, and I love it enormously. In fact, I order their coffee beans to Miami for my Breville Barista Pro Espresso Machine just to make it feel like I’m back in New York. Their matcha latte is good. It’s sweetened with sugar, therefore might seem like a fake for someone, but I liked it. I’ve ordered it not so much, but every time I did, it was a great drink.
